42. Ika SUMMER (PV)
Blurb:
Alright y'all.. it's been a while since I've posted, here's a brief recount of what's been going on for the last month (or 3 weeks)..
Ahem* ------> NOTHING. So why didn't I post? Probably got distracted. Haha.. :P (look! a paradigm shift! O0Oo0ooh!!!)
So here we go, something I've picked up from three weeks ago. This is the newest single by ORANGE RANGE, called ika Summer. I've obviously seen it when it first came out, but I haven't talked about it until now. Why? read the paragraph above.
There just HAS to be something interesting in this video, right? hm.. I can honestly say no, because this is what is expected in ORANGE RANGE's new PVs. Full of energy, full of colors, and almost oblivious to the loss of dear ol' KATCHAN (the drummer/founder), not that people paid more attention to him originally.. ahh~
Anyway, this PV is a grand show of a parade on a tropical island. It features bright flamingo dancers, and a weird statue that blows smoke through its nostrils. The immediate downside, is this video cannot be shown in high quality on Youtube or Elsewhere on the net, because of its pixel-throttles.
However, once you listen to it 3 times, you will most likely learn to like this song. It is another HUGE CHORUS-type songs.. where everyone sings along, even the flamingo dancers and the giant statue. RYO's solo is cool, and so is the vocalists' mafia/pimped out look. You can't really see the guitarist and the bassist, though, since they are farther behind in the parade, in a little car.
What's the moral of this story? It is an application of the Systems Theory. The 5 remaining band members have coped with the loss of their drummer/founder by re-inventing their PV's themes and re-inventing their own images. I watched their Live MusiQ concert a few weeks ago, and the differences (2005 -2007) are VERY noticeable.
I have to say, they are doing a good job of adjusting, and their new image doesn't hurt their overall popularity either. Keep it up!
